THE COTTAGE

In 2008, Kyne Landscaping partnered with Tamarack Homes for their entry in the 2008 Parade of Homes, “The Cottage”.  We designed and installed a landscape that contributed to “The Cottage” receiving the USGBC LEED Gold award and an NAHB Green Gold certification.

LEED points were awarded for an extremely efficient irrigation system, including the use of a smart controller called the ET Manager from RainBird, which saves water by making real-time adjustments to the irrigation schedule based on hourly weather information. A drip system was utilized for all planting areas and highly efficient spray heads were installed for the minimal use of turf grass. Permeable garden pathways using decomposed granite lined with steel edging meander through the landscape. The Garden pergola and trellis were constructed from a local downed cedar tree that was milled specifically for this project.

Other showcase features include raised herb and vegetable gardens, a Venetian Paver driveway, window planter boxes filled with seasonal color, a living fence filled with grape vines and an outdoor lighting system to stroll the landscape into the evening.

VANCOUVER LAKE REMODEL

Kyne Landscaping partnered with Landscape Designer Michael Schultz for the remodel of the landscape of this home with breathtaking views overlooking Vancouver Lake.

The unique location of this project presented a number of challenges. Kyne Landscaping worked closely with the Clark County Wet Land Biologist to ensure erosion was controlled and no damage to the lake occurred as a result of the construction. There was also a steep slope with limited access to the backyard and many of the materials had to be delicately installed by hand. Finally, we augmented the approach to the front of the house—once dominated by garage doors—with a new paver driveway.

Highlights of the project include a gas fire pit, a paver patio, boulder retaining walls, basalt stone stairs and LED lighting.
