Permeable Pavers

Storm water runoff has become a large contributor to polluting our environment. The use of permeable pavers as a hard surface allows rainwater to return to the ground and have zero effect on our rain cycle. Partnering with Mutual Materials, Kyne Landscaping installed one of the first residential applications of permeable pavers in the state of Washington.

Permeable pavers differ from traditional pavers because they are installed with spacing to allow for water to filter through to the base rock below. The base rock is installed in layers of clean interlocking gravel so the water can filter down and percolate back into the ground. The final step of installation calls for small interlocking gravel to fill in the joints. Permeable pavers are a great way to reduce hard surfaces in a landscape and help minimize a home’s environmental footprint.
