THE HAMPTON

Kyne Landscaping recently partnered with Tamarack Homes in creating “The Hampton” for entry in the 2009 Parade of Homes.  We designed and installed a landscape that was not only sustainable and eco-conscious, but also award-winning. 

The landscape design was completed before construction began on this amazing home, helping to establish the desired look and feel.  The homeowners wanted a beach-themed residence inspired by the house in the movie, “Something’s Gotta Give”.  They also requested the design include raised garden beds, an orchard and an outdoor living space while simultaneously maintaining privacy from neighboring homes during all seasons and showcasing a specific color pallet.

The environmentally conscious features of the landscape include an Eco Priora permeable paver driveway allowing rainwater to run directly back into the ground water table and ultimately back into the natural rain system without being diverted into a rainwater collection area or sewer system.  The garden pathways are permeable and maintain the beach theme through the use of crushed oyster shells lined with steel edging.  The irrigation system was designed to be extremely efficient and water sensitive through the use of the ET Manager from Rain Bird, which is an irrigation controller that saves water by making real-time adjustments to the irrigation schedule based on hourly weather information.  By utilizing the ET Manager, drip irrigation and highly efficient irrigation heads, water savings can reach 70% from traditional irrigation systems.   Complete outdoor lighting was installed using an LED system from Kichler allowing for 75% less electricity consumption than traditional lighting with bulbs that can last 40,000 hours without replacement.   

Upon completion of “The Hampton” Kyne Landscaping won the Parade of Homes People’s Choice Award as well as The Past President’s Award for “Best Landscaping”.
